Camera-based EOL tester
Manually loaded end-of-line inspection station with a Keyence camera and a Siemens PLC. The system checks dimensions and product features and inspects for surface scratches.

Task and implementation
Visual end-of-line inspection of automotive products had to be implemented with manual loading. The inspection had to cover dimensional and feature checks as well as inspection for surface scratches.
We built the end-of-line inspection station with a Keyence camera system and a Siemens PLC. The operator loads and unloads the product, and the camera system checks the defined visual features. Dimensional inspection and the detection of surface defects belong to the same inspection task.
The operator loads, the camera inspects
Manual loading remains, while the Keyence camera system checks the defined dimensions, features and surface scratches. The inspection criteria are thus determined by the camera task. The detection limit for surface defects is determined jointly by the lighting, the product surface and the validated defect samples.
