Automated welding production line for an automotive plant
A production line with two FANUC robots for resistance welding of nuts, bolts and threaded studs. Installation was scheduled to fit into the two weeks of the summer shutdown.

Task and implementation
Nuts, bolts and threaded studs had to be welded automatically onto automotive sheet-metal parts. Only a narrow time window was available for installation, so the line layout and on-site integration had to be coordinated.
We organised the resistance welding process around two FANUC robots. Automatic part feeding, dockable storage trolleys and a custom robot gripper together handle the parts and serve the welding operations. We integrated MES connectivity into the Mitsubishi control system, so the equipment also connects to the plant's IT environment.
Touch-free material flow, automated tending
The robot cell also loads and unloads the parts automatically, so these operations require no manual intervention. The touch-free material flow is adapted to the characteristics of the product and to the quality assurance requirements, while reducing operator tasks and the risk of errors arising from manual material handling.
